Right now I'm running some Federal HST 147gr. Recently saw an article that most people were thinking 124gr was better, faster, etc. · Which by the way is fairly hot as it is. It feels almost exactly the same as nato 124 9mm. So you can use nato 124 as practice and get the exact same feel and POI. Also some Russian steel and euro ammo feels about as warm Most 115gr American loaded 9mm is pretty weak. I don’t like the recoil impulse of 147. It’s not as snappy as 124 nato. He ended up giving the prize to all four versions of Federal HST - 124 & 147 regular and +p varieties. I carry the regular 147 HST in my p226, p938, G22/17 & 26.

Sep 5, 2016 · Not HST's but I have carried and shot 124+p Speer gold dots for a few years. I am now taking a look at winchesters 147 bonded ranger. After attending ballistic workshops from both manufacturers, my opinion was that the expansion and penetration were close enough that it didn't matter.HST 147gr is going to give you better overall ballistics. Better penetration, better expansion, easier to handle recoil, etc. 147gr 9mm is subsonic so it's less flippy and less noisy than a +P round, as well as more reliable expansion since the bullet is a bit heavier and isn't travelling ridiculously fast.
