Your ptera probably hatched with like 320% melee and got up to 350% with the imprinting you did. You'll get an additional invisible bonus when you're riding it, 30% damage and damage reduction if it's 100% imprinted, so 15-16% for you.

The idea of the imprinting is that one rider and one Dino have a 'special connection' because you alone hand cared for that baby and did what it needed, it gives you incentive to ride Specific Dinos and even more incentive to look after them.
